Dyacon Products

Dyacon has world-class expertise in the design and manufacture of industrial computers for use as mobile data terminals (MDT's). Unlike ordinary laptop computers, these on-board vehicle computers have specialized I/O ports, rugged data memory systems, day-light readable displays, and a specialized user interfaces. MDTs are typically connected to or integrated with radio transceivers for satellite, cell phone, or WiFi services in order to provide mobile communications services.

Mobile Data Terminal features include:

  • Wide DC power input direct from vehicle with over-voltage protection.
  • Integrated un-interruptible power supply to prevent computer resets during vehicle cranking and glitches.
  • Interface to the vehicle engine control module (J1939, J1708, ODBII).
  • Serial ports for connecting to satellite modems and other industrial modems.
  • Digital inputs for monitoring vehicle systems, such as door position, equipment status, ignition status, and so forth.
  • Digital outputs for controlling or signaling external devices, such as driver lights, beepers, or locks.
  • An RS485 interface to sensor networks used for security systems and monitoring.

Dyacon offers two product lines, the RDT series of mobile data terminals and the CT series of vehicle and communication interface computers. Both computers are fully programmable and offer features and capabilities specifically designed for the trucking industry and other mobile equipment applications.

How it Works

RDT Line

The RDT products are mobile data terminals with a display and user interface. The RDT line began more than 12 years ago with the RDT3000, followed by the RDT3200, RX600, and RDT800. These were sold in various configurations to mobile communication providers throughout the world.

The RDT950 can function as an electronic on board recorder (EOBR), messaging platform, or general driver interface. It is a robust industrial computer with a sunlight-readable display, a wide operating temperature, and a liquid sealed front. Serial ports are available for connecting radio modems and other devices. The RDT950 uses the Windows® CE operating system with a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard. A cradle is available for convenient one hand mounting.

CT Line

The CT computers can be set up to operate as a standalone or in conjunction with a MDT such as the RDT950. They are fully C-programmable, offering unmatched versatility, processing capability, and price.

CT605

The CT605 is a customizable, C-programmable computer platform. Options include a UPS, cell phone, GPS receiver, and RS485 port. J1708 connectivity is standard, providing the capability to monitor engine and vehicle parameters remotely.

CT630

The CT630 builds on the successful CT line by adding J1939, an upgraded cell phone, software selectable RS232/485, and Bluetooth capability.

With the addition of the Bluetooth wireless capability, the CT630 can act as the vehicle interface for laptop computers, rugged hand-held products, or mobile data terminals. This convenient interface reduces the installation cost and in-cab wiring, while enhancing system flexibility and convenience.
